Universities are the original startup incubator. They teach the skills that any great entrepreneur needs to be successful: creativity, critical thinking, and the ability to embrace and overcome failure. This panel will address how universities became the hubs of innovation that they are today and the practices that other institutions can adopt to transform themselves into “entrepreneurial universities.”

Associate Professor Dr Siri Roland Xavier is the Deputy Dean and Programme Director for Entrepreneurship at UNIRAZAK. His activities include being the GEM national team leader, board member of the Global Entrepreneurship Research Association, member of the Global Consortium for Entrepreneurship Educators and Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Global Entrepreneurship Research.

Jo Mills joined the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL) at the University of Cambridge in February 2001 and is now Deputy Director of the Centre. Jo is the founding Programme Director for the Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship an innovative part-time programme designed specifically for a global audience of entrepreneurs which leads to a University of Cambridge qualification and enables individuals to develop their entrepreneurial ambitions, skills and ventures.

Ybhg. Prof Datuk Dr Md. Zabid Haji Abdul Rashid is the President & Vice Chancellor of University Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) and the Chief Executive Officer of Tun Abdul Razak Education Foundation (Yayasan PINTAR).
|Rafik Guindi, SilGenix, Egypt
Rafik Guindi received his B.Sc. and his M.Sc. in Electronic Circuits from Cairo University, Egypt, in 1985 and 1989 respectively. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo in Canada in 1995. He recently co-founded SilGenix, a Microelectronics Design company.
